Collaborative Learning Supporting Family Centered Care

Family Centered Care is the care that arises out of family life. It reflects the experience of dementing illness as lived day to day. Each family is unique, and each day is different. Therefore, educational programs on family centered care can't rely on a static curriculum. Our challenge is to create programs that are dynamic (responsive to new ideas and insights) and relevant to changing situations and circumstances. We offer face-to-face as well as web based educational programs. With each offering, our goal is to initiate a conversation rather than deliver a lecture.

What You'll Find in Educational Programs at the Center

Our educational programs provide insights into the nature of dementing illness, how families cope with dementia care and the interactions between family centered care and medically or institutionally oriented care. We are guided by family systems theory and biopsychosocial perspectives as complementary to the traditional medical approach. Most important, we seek to speak to the everyday concerns of those living with and working with dementia.
