	Applying Science To Better Understand Family Centered Care The Family Caregiving Center is committed to the process of discovery - acquiring new knowledge and insights to illuminate the experience of family centered care. Our research initiatives span the continuum from basic science through applied science in order to support our efforts to improve the quality of life for those living with and working with dementing illness. Key areas under investigation What is the experience of family care across the entire course of dementing illness? What are the issues families face and the strengths and resources they bring across the continuum of the biopsychosocial realm? What is the role of intimacy in dementia? How are dementia and intimate relations related? How do families understand their situation? How do different perceptions and ideas within a family shape shared perceptions?
